    Whistler Weather forecast

    Additional rainfall amounts up to 30 mm for Greater Vancouver near the northshore mountains..Fraser Valley..West Vancouver Island and up to 40 mm for Howe Sound today.

    An intense frontal system moving over the south coast continues to produce rain at times heavy over most of the south coast today. Additional rainfall amounts up to 30 mm are expected today near the mountains for Greater Vancouver..Fraser Valley and West Vancouver Island. Up to 40 mm of rain is forecast for Howe Sound today. Freezing rain will persist northeast of Whistler and along the central coast until the cold air at the surface warms to above zero this morning.

    This weather system continues to produce strong southerly winds of 50 to 70 km/h for West Vancouver Island and Howe Sound. These winds are forecast to weaken later this morning. Winds have eased for other regions of the south coast.

    An additional 5 to 10 cm of snow can be expected over inland sections of the central coast today and tonight as the system moves inland and weakens.

    Meanwhile a ridge of high pressure over Yukon is generating strong northerly outflow winds through the valleys and inlets of the north and central coast. Cooler temperatures are expected to continue for the north coast leading to wind chill values near minus 20 today. A wind warning for strong northerly outflow is in effect for the central coast coastal near mainland inlets.

    Note: Hwy 99 closed at 1 mile bridge in Pemberton due to flooding also Duffy lk avalanche closure
