A strong warm front moving in from the pacific will give significant snowfall amounts to Howe Sound and Whistler today with over 20 cm possible. This front will also affect the north coast inland region with amounts to 20 cm. Precipitation will change to rain later in the day in most regions as the airmass warms along the coast.
Freezing levels will rise through the afternoon with snow changing to rain over the northshore mountains this evening. The front will move east of the region overnight. A moist northwesterly flow aloft will bring scattered flurries to the coast on Monday.
A strong west to northwest flow aloft aimed at the bc coast will bring rain and rising freezing levels Tuesday and Wednesday. A very weak ridge will bring drier conditions Thursday.

Snowfall warning for
Whistler continued
Snowfall accumulations of 20 cm by this evening for Howe Sound and Whistler.
The front will also bring high wind speeds to the British Columbia coast today. Strong southeast winds of 60 to 90 km/h are occurring over exposed coastal sections of northern Vancouver Island coastal sections of the north and central coast and the Queen Charlottes this morning. The front will sweep onto the south coast later this morning with winds of 60 to 80 km/h expected over the west side of Vancouver Island first then the east side Sunshine Coast and the Southern Gulf Islands then reaching Greater Victoria this afternoon. The winds will begin to abate this evening however will remain brisk.
