A ridge of high pressure will maintain cool and dry weather through this afternoon. A strong cold front will approach the region tonight with snow beginning late this evening around 5cm.

The snow will ease to flurries on Saturday in the wake of the cold front with temperatures dropping in the alpine towards -12c. Strong winds will also develop overnight and ease slightly late Saturday afternoon. Sunday will bring colder arctic air with temperatures dropping towards -20C Sunday morning.

Scattered flurries on Sunday will ease through the day as an upper ridge of high pressure builds in from the west. Dry conditions and even cooler temperatures can be expected Monday and Tuesday.

The next major system will hit us middle of next week with warmer temperatures.
