A cold front will move across the South Coast today spreading precipitation throughout the region. Precipitation will taper off this evening as the front moves eastward. A ridge of high pressure will build along the coast on Friday giving generally dry conditions for Saturday.

A slow moving low pressure system is forecast to approach the South Coast on Sunday and Monday bringing precipitation.

A ridge of high pressure build over BC Interior on Tuesday bringing clear skies.

Special Avalanche warning south coast

The Canadian Avalanche Centre is issuing a Special Avalanche Warning for the South Coast region from Friday Dec 18 to Sunday Dec 21. The special avalanche warning applies only to backcountry areas of BC’s South Coast Mountains.

Approximately 35-50 cm of “upside-down” snow is bonding poorly to a variety of previous snow surfaces... Link to CAA----->>
