    A major pacific storm

    A major pacific storm 994mb will make it's approach this afternoon. Winds will rise out of the southeast 60-100km/ph, and it's ugly... The pineapple express stretchs right across the pacific this morning feeding fresh tropical air straight from Maui. We allready have winds out of the SE blowing this morning 50-60km/ph up top, and the alpine temp is holding around -4C for now.....

    Rainfall warning for Howe Sound/Whistler

    Rainfall amounts of 60 to 110 mm are expected for the above regions through Sunday...
    A moist pacific frontal system will approach the British Columbia coast today. A developing low associated with the front will spread strong southeast winds up to 100 km/h over North Vancouver Island and the coastal sections of central coast this afternoon. The strong winds will ease tonight as the low moves inland.

    The 994 millibar low will deepen as it moves to Queen Charlotte Sound this afternoon and into southern regions this evening.

    Very warm and moist air will accompany the front bringing copious amounts of rain and high freezing levels climbing near to 2500m. The front will reach the south coast early this afternoon and linger through Sunday night. Heavy rain can be expected over much of the south coast with total amounts ranging from up to 160 mm in southern sections of West Vancouver Island to 60 to 110 mm over the coast mtns.

    Windy up there

    A rather windy night in the alpine deposited windslab in some places, and scoured others, accumulations of around 15c-20cm fell last night in the alpine. Warmer air this afternoon took freezing levels up to around 1600m. Winds are gusting in the alpine 50-60km/ph from the south.

    For the weekend...

    A 980 millibar low will remain centred over the northern gulf of Alaska. Meanwhile a second 1002 millibar low will approach the west coast of Vancouver Island from the southwest today and will weaken and dissipate as it reaches central Vancouver Island this evening.

    A third low will approach the southern offshore waters Saturday winds will rise to southeast 100km/ph Sunday ahead of the third low.

    A Warm Southerly Flow Will Bring Extreme Wet Conditions To The South Coast On Sunday With Freezing Level Climbing Up To 2500 Metres In The Afternoon. Heavy Rain Is Expected For Sunday Over Most Areas. A Cold Front Will Move Across The Area Sunday Night Lowering The Freezing Level To 1200 Metres

    982 millibar low

    A 982 millibar low will remain centred over the gulf of Alaska And will deepen to 975 millibars by this afternoon.

    Somewhere around 15 cm's is expected today and another 15 tonight. The low will maintain a fairly intense circulation along the bc coast leading to strong winds out of the SE 60-90km/ph on the ridgetop. Most of the Inner South coast where winds will remain moderate to strong.

    Spring air

    Well we picked up 11cm of fresh last night on top of some warm snow underneth last night. Temperatures this afternoon should drop in the wake of a cold front moving through the area this morning, possible sunny breaks this afternoon. Freezing levels will fluctuate as another system approaches tommorow.

    Intense pacific low

    After warm temperatures drove the freezing level to well above 1800m on Saturday, it cooled off overnight Saturday refreezing to a breakable crust off piste. Warm temperatures will continue through Tuesday as a cold front 965mb will develop later in the day today bringing high gusty winds to the alpine through Wednesday with moderate to heavy precip. However freezing levels will stay relativly high through Tuesday night around 1900m as it draws in warm air from the SW. The low will move north into the gulf of Alaska late Wednesday drawing cooler air and precipitation in the form of snow into the area...
