    978 millibar low

    A Frontal System Across Vancouver Island Is Spreading Periods Of Snow Over Our Region Today Tapering Off To Flurries Tonight As The System Moves Eastward. In Its Wake Drier Conditions Will Prevail On Saturday.

    A 978 millibar low will remain in the gulf of Alaska and slowly fill. A weak front over northern Vancouver Island will shift southwards today and slump across the southern Vancouver Island this evening. A cool trough of moist unstable air will rotate through north coastal mountains later today behind the front. A high pressure ridge will build into the bc coast by late Saturday.

    Today alpine..Snow Heavy At Times. Alpine High Minus 1. Snowfall Accumulation 15 To 25 Cm. Freezing Level 1500 Metres.
    Mountain Top Winds South 30 To 50 Km/H.

    A Strong Frontal System Developing Offshore Will Spread Snow To The Area Today Through Tonight. The System Will Stall Over The Coastal Region And Give Snow At Times Heavy On Friday.

    Today in the alpine..Snow. Alpine High Minus 1. Snowfall Accumulation 5 To 10 Cm.
    Freezing Level 1500 Metres. Mountain Top Winds Southwest 30 To 50 Km/H.

    Tonight..Showers. Amount 5 to 10 mm. Low plus 4.
    Friday..Periods of rain. Amount 20 mm. High 8

    A 970 millibar low offshore will move north into the gulf of Early today. An associated strong front near the Queen Charlottes early this morning will slide southeast to lie over southern Vancouver Island this evening. The front will retreat north to central Vancouver Island later on Friday.

    Rainfall warning for
    Howe Sound issued

    40 to 60 mm by early Friday morning. An additional 40 mm on Friday.
    A frontal system approaching coastal British Columbia will stall along the coast and will bring heavy rain to the Howe Sound region today through Friday.

    Winter's not over yet

    A 1000 millibar low 120 miles west northwest of the Charlottes early this morning will move slowly north and weaken west of the Alaska Panhandle by this afternoon. An associated trough lying through Hecate strait will move onto the mainland coast this morning.

    The low will deepen to 976mb early Thursday morning in the gulf of Alaska sending another blast of wintery weather to the alpine regions above 1500-1600m. The predominent flow will be west/ south west. Snowfall accumulations above 1500m should be significant.

    A second low west of the Island early this morning will move to Queen Charlotte Sound this afternoon and onto the central coast this evening.

    Today in the alpine..Periods Of Snow. Alpine High Minus 3. Snowfall Accumulation 1 To 3 Cm. Freezing Level 1000 Metres. Mountain Top Winds Southerly 30 To 40 Km/H Increasing To 50 Km/H This Afternoon.

    Tonight..Cloudy with 70 percent chance of showers. Low plus 4.

    A pacific front lying from central coast to northwestern Vancouver Island and southward will reach the Lower Mainland this afternoon. A 1000 millibar low well offshore will approach from the west bringing light snow.
