    Sun and Cold on the way

    Whistler Weather forecast

    A weak 1016 MB low pressure centre over northern Vancouver Island early this morning will move southeastward to lie over southern Vancouver Island and southern Georgia strait this afternoon And then move across Washington state this evening. A maritime high pressure ridge will build behind the low over offshore waters today.

    A stronger Arctic high pressure ridge will build tonight across the bc interior producing gale force outflow winds through most coastal inlets tonight. The locally strong to gale force outflow winds will persist in the south through Sunday.
    Northeasterly winds gusting 40 to 60 with rapididly falling temperatures will begin this evening.

    A Disturbance From The Northwest Will Yield Flurries Over Higher Terrain Today. Flurries Will Taper Off This Afternoon As The Low Pressure System Continues Southeastward Out Of The Region.

    A Ridge Of High Pressure Off The Coast Will Maintain A Northwesterly Flow Over The Region Throughout The Day. Mainly Cloudy Skies Will See Flurries Develop This Afternoon As A Disturbance Approaches From The Northwest.

    A ridge of high pressure in a northeast to southwest line Through the central coast will move southeast to lie in Washington state overnight. Meanwhile a pacific cold front offshore will move eastward across the Charlottes late this afternoon and then southeastward to lie over central Vancouver Island overnight bringing some isolated flurries. The ridge will rebuild bringing sunny skies for the early part of next week with falling temperatures.

    An Intense Cold Front Crossing The South Coast Late This Afternoon Will Continue To Cause Freezing Levels To Drop. The Passage Of The Front Will Also Bring Gusty Northwest Winds And Snow Will Ease Off This Evening. A Ridge Of High Pressure Will Build Over The South Coast In Its Wake On Tuesday Bringing Sunnier And Drier Conditions. Temperatures Will Be Noticeably Colder But Winds Will Also Be Lighter.

    A cold front has moved across the Lower Mainland. In its wake a ridge of high pressure is building over offshore waters and will Move onshore Tuesday. A warm front travelling across the northern gulf of Alaska will brush the north coast region Tuesday.

    Snow at times mixed with rain ending early this evening then cloudy periods. Snowfall amount 2 to 4 cm. Low minus 8.
    Tuesday Sunny with cloudy periods. High minus 1. Tuesday night Cloudy periods. Low minus 8.
    Wednesday Cloudy. High plus 1.

    The next big system is forecast to slam into our area on Monday bringing heavy precipitation and relatively mild temperatures. This will probably be followed by significantly cooler temperatures on Tuesday before mild high pressure sets up on Wednesday.

    A 985 millibar low will cross the northern offshore waters this morning and will reach the northern Alaska Panhandle this afternoon.
    The associated frontal system will be approaching the coast this morning and will move through the north coast this afternoon Reaching the northern tip of Vancouver Island this evening.

    Cloudy Conditions Will Prevail Today. A Vigorous Pacific System Will Come Onshore This Evening Bringing A Return To Snow. The Snow Will Persist Through Tomorrow Late In The Day As The Back End Of The System Moves Through.
