A cold front slowly crossing the British Columbia coast will continue to spread rain heavy at times over the central coast. The main storm track will remain to the north of us leaving us on the edge of it all. Warm air this morning, -0.9C up top we've got rain to around 1800m-1900m. Not much snow today just alot of cloud and warm air. A ridge of high pressure builds behind the front giving a generally dry pattern for Tuesday and Wednesday. Another frontal system approaches the coast on Thursday bringing some snow, however confidence is low with the timing of this system and it may be slightly delayed.

    Wet Coast

    After a series of nice cool storms things have warmed up. We've got rain to the top this morning. A cold front extending northeast to southwest through Vancouver Island will move southwards across the South Coast to lie over northwestern Washington State late this evening. A low centre forming off the Oregon Coast early Thursday morning will move northeastward across the Inner South Coast on Thursday afternoon.

    A cold front slowly crossing the British Columbia south coast will bring rain at times heavy today and tonight. An additional 50 to 70 mm of rain is expected for West Vancouver Island and Howe Sound bringing total rainfall amounts of 80 to 100 mm. The heavy rain is expected to ease tonight as the cold front continues to move to the southeast.

    A series of systems

    A frontal system approaching the South Coast will spread snow to the Whistler region this morning. The front will move through the region by early this evening with a ridge of high pressure building along the coast overnight. The ridge will weaken on Tuesday morning allowing another system to push onto the South Coast in the afternoon. The system Wednesday will be warmer drawing in warm air from the south. Freezing levels will spike on Wednesday.

    A weaker system will approach the coast on Saturday producing modest amounts of snow Saturday night.

    Whistler breaks its record snowfall for November. The statiscs are amazing 71cm in 24 hours, 126cm in 48hrs, 315cm in the past week. Things ae looking good for the season. It's deep out there, and many reports of people wallowing up to thier necks today. Be perpared with adequete floatation in untracked areas. Ride with a buddy as tree wells are deep.

    Snow in the mountains

    A series of Pacific storms have dumped over 1m of snow last week in the alpine, and more is on the way.

    Systems on the way for the next week......

    Thursday night through Friday: We should receive close to 20cm out of this.


    Saturday night
    Will begin somewhat slowly however Freezing levels will rise to around 1100m during part of this. Accumulation are forecast in the 30-50cm range per day. Winds willl increase to near 70km/ph


    Sunday Day through Monday
    The storm will essentially stall, and begin to cool down. Accumulation are forecast in the 30-50cm range per day. Freezing level 1650m lowering to 1250m. Winds are forecast in excess of 100km/ph


    Early next week late Sunday
    THe system stalls over the Westcoast bringing copious amounts of precip with lots of warm air. Freezing levels are forecast to rise.


    Late next week
    This one looks like a doozy..Freezing level 1100m.


    Time to clear your schedule, this series of systems might well go down in the record books as one of the best starts to the season ever!!!!

    Big Storm

    A huge deep low weakening low 973 mb located west of the Alaska panhandle is generating a strong southwest flow across the forecast area. A frontal system will bring strong to gale force southeast winds to the south and central coast on Sunday. Winds will rise to storm force over most of the central waters by noon Sunday. Huge waves accompany this storm with wave height averages 30+ ft.Snow levels will hover near 1000 metres today and Sunday, but become lower overnight. Additional snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 cm are expected through to Sunday afternoon, Sunday night the main part of thee storm will hit through Monday..Snow in the Alpine.

    Pacific storms


    Whistler Weather forecast

    An intense frontal system currently over the north coast is giving winds of 70 to 90 km/h to the Queen Charlotte Islands and the north and central coasts. The strong winds are expected to continue through this morning then spread to east and West Vancouver Island the Sunshine Coast and the Western Fraser Valley where southerly winds of 50 to 70 km/h are expected today.

    The intense frontal system will also bring heavy rainfall to Howe Sound the north shore mountains and northern sections of the Fraser Valley today. Total accumulations or 60-100 mm are expected by Friday.

    Alpine Regions:
    Snow is expected in the Alpine through next week. An intense and very moist Pacific cold front will bring snow at times heavy to the region today. The heaviest snow will occur late this afternoon and evening as the front crosses the area. A moist, unstable airmass in the wake of the front will ensure more snowfall overnight and Friday, another system Monday and another Wednesday. The systems are lined up out in the pacific time to get your rock skiis and boards ready.

    The start of winter

    Warm air aloft will stick around today, and be displaced tonight by cooler air. The cold front is forecast to arrive tonight bringing rain initially. Precipitation will rapidly change to snow in the alpine and significant accumulations are expected tonight and Thursday in the alpine after rain changes to snow.
