The pacific jetstream is veering towards us once again. Freezing levels should hover around 1600-1800m.

An approaching front will bring precip through early this week. High cloud will start to stream in this morning as a pacific low approaches. The cold front arrives Monday in the evening and brings snow and rain. The front passes on Tuesday and a few flurries are forecast behind it on Wednesday.

A ridge of high pressure over the South Coast will give dry conditions through tonight. A low pressure system is forecast to approach the coast on Friday spreading flurries to the coastal alpine areas late in the day. After that a ridge of high pressure builds with sunny skies, and rising temperatures through the week.

After quite a storm during the last few days finally a break, before a trailing cold front hits Friday which will produce more snow and wind.

A cool and unstable westerly flow will persist today. Precipitation will taper off tonight as a weak ridge of high pressure builds towards the coast. A warm front will brush the south coast Thursday. Flurries are expected Saturday in the cool westerly flow in the wake of this next front. Another front will bring more snow on Sunday.

Long Range..
April is poised to start with a bang, a westerly flow with cool temps will persist through next week. Expect more snow piling up through next week......

Sunny breaks this afternoon as a small ridge of high pressure builds. A warm front is forecast to approach on Saturday bringing some light precipitation.

Another frontal system is expected to bring more precipitation and windy conditions, early on Sunday morning with freezing levels around 1500m.

Late Sunday, early Monday, another more intense system will bring copius amounts of snow to the alpine once again with decent freezing levels around 1200m. There's quite a bit of instability in behind that with freezing levels remaining low.

A ridge of high pressure will continue to build tonight and will bring sunshine and mild temperatures. A cold front will reach the coast on Sunday night bringing snow by Sunday evening and will usher in a much colder and snowy pattern.

Next week..

Back to Winter..
A series of lows moving in from the pacific will bring snow to the valley. A deep low in the gulf of Alaska will develop Tuesday bringing a strong westerly flow to the area. Bringing copius amounts of snow again. Another system Thursday looks a little warmer and juicy as well. In behind cool air for once.

In the mean time a nice weekend especially Saturday as spring like conditions and freezing levels topping out around 1900m. Catch some rays, and replenish that vitamin D.

A ridge of high pressure will build over the South Coast today in the wake of the weak front that moved through the coast last night. This will bring a drying trend today with at least a partial clearing expected. The ridge will move to the east on Thursday, giving way to a front approaching from the Pacific. The front will be weak and will tend to dissipate as it arrives over Vancouver Island but it is still expected to produce some clouds over the area on Thursday with a slight chance of precipitation by Thursday night.

Another day of powder skiing for our visiting athletes

A frontal system will move east of the region this morning ending the precipitation. Drier and cooler air will move into the area behind this system later today as a ridge of high pressure builds. Dry conditions are expected on Wednesday as the ridge becomes established in the BC Interior.

Sunny skies for tommorow with a slight inveersion developing, however this looks like the last snow we should see for a while. Early next week it should cool down and good much cooler weather will prevail

After a beauty day of powder skiing even the atheletes were out there shredding pow on their GS skiis today. Everybody is ready to race.....

The mens DH is set to go at 10:30am. After being cancelled Saturday because of adverse weather.

It looks like the storm has past and there's good news in behind it. Cooler and drier air will move in behind the front this afternoon. Bringing out the sun!

During the storm peak gusts reached 113km/h out of the SE at the top of Blackcomb. Winds have eased this morning to 40-60km/ph at ridge top.

A ridge of high pressure will hold over the region Monday giving drier conditions although cloud will increase ahead of the next disturbance in the afternoon and some flurries are possible Monday evening.

A cold front will bring more precipitation Tuesday and an upper ridge will begin to build for Wednesday near the west coast.
This will result in drier conditions as freezing levels rise on Thursday. Low level easterly flow however will develop on Friday as conditions remain fairly dry allowing freezing levels to ease off slightly for the latter part of the week.

The opening ceremonies are done time to get on with the competition.

Mens DH will be a tough one to pull off with mother nature in full control this weekend.
IR Satellite at 9:45pm shows the storm offshore- timing will be everything

We've received 28 cm of fresh snow in the last 48Hrs at 1600m, great powder skiing in the alpine!

An intense pacific 960mb low centered off the the queen charlotte islands will approach the British Columbia coast early Saturday morning. This front will spread strong southeast winds of 60 to 100 km/h at ridge top Saturday, bringing more precipitation and rising freezing levels to around 1500m. It will arrive in Whistler in the early afternoon tommorow.

1pm Saturday

The latest weather models for tommorow look like light snow starting around 10-11am, and picking up through the afternoon as a vigorous low approaches the south coast. Saturday night the storm will pick up dumping a good amount of snow above 1500m. Accumulation will probably be 5-10cm tommorow, 20-30cm ovenight Sunday.

The front is expected to move through the South Coast late Sunday. A ridge of high pressure will begin to build on Monday providing mainly dry conditions. A weak front is currently forecast move across the ridge on Tuesday with a chance of precipitation.

Welcome to Whistler...and the typical February weather. My advice go ski the powder.

The first in a series of fronts are set to approach the region today bringing precipition in the form of snow above 1400m. The storm track will remain pointed at us through Monday bring copius amounts of snow above 1400-1500m.

An intense pacific frontal system approaching the British Columbia coast will spread strong southeast winds of 60 to 90 km/h late in the day tommorow to the alpine

Mens DH forecast:A short break between systems Friday night. A more intense system approaching the coast from the SW Saturday morning looks like it should show up around here late in the day Saturday bringing high winds and snow above 1500m. Hopefully the race will go before it hits. It looks ugly on the weather models.

Long range:
After that wet system exits on early Monday a ridge of high pressure looks to be building bringing cooler weather and sun??

Not much around for the next few days, we should see a mix of sun and cloud maybe the odd flurry through Wednesday.

The middle of next week however is poised for a big change. A series of lows out of the gulf of Alaska is developing. The first Wednesday evening looks to be fairly warm with freezing levels around 1600m- 1800m. The low intensifies Thursday through Friday bringing snow to the high alpine. A week away Saturday looks ugly with a strong flow from the SW. These models are of course speculation, but it does look like a change in weather.

Some good news however as it looks like some more typical February type weather may be in behind as a strong flow from the pacific becomes more established. Which usually means copious snowfall to the valley. Pray for snow we might need it if this deluge pans out.

Maya the dog did see her shadow reflected on the skiff of new snow in Whistler this morning. 6 more weeks of winter on the way.

A weak frontal system will painfully progress inland today bringing light precipitation.

Another weak system will result in unsettled conditions on Thursday. A more intense Pacific low may bring moderate precipitation on Friday tapering to flurries Saturday.

Heading towards games time, it would appear that this weak SW flow of warm air will continue, however a more intense low is brewing in the longest range models.

From what I've seen the Olympic arrogance towards our weather should bring on some sort of weather vengeance to this organization. A pure lack of respect for the environment makes this not a green games. Burning of ridiculous amounts of fossil fuels flying helicopters, and jets around in circles, and moving snow from Manning park to Cypress by dump truck, should royally piss off the snow gods, watch out for what you wish for VANOC, Ullr lives hear.. Maybe you should look for snow in the Callaghan, it's alot closer.
